The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Sunday Oginni, has claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi initially approached the NNPP before eventually joining the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 general election.
Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Oginni alleged that Obi sought to contest on the NNPP platform but was unable to secure a place in the party. According to him, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso told party leaders that he was politically bigger than Obi and did not support Obi remaining in the party.
Oginni also defended Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf against allegations of betrayal from Kwankwaso’s supporters. He argued that Kwankwaso and his political camp were not in a position to accuse others of betrayal.
Favor As Higher Power? (The hidden truth) Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
The NNPP chieftain further alleged that the party’s founder, Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, entrusted the party’s platform to Kwankwaso for the 2023 presidential election despite having the opportunity to support Obi, whom he described as his kinsman from Anambra State.
According to Oginni, Aniebonam made the decision in the interest of national unity, but he believes that trust was later broken by Kwankwaso’s actions within the party. He maintained that this history weakens any claim by Kwankwaso’s camp that Governor Yusuf betrayed the former NNPP presidential candidate.
In his words, “Obi came to us in NNPP, Kwankwaso told them that he was bigger and larger than Obi, he didn’t allow Obi to stay before Obi went to the Labour Party.”
