Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has donated ₦10 million to the Thomas Moore College of Health Sciences and Technology in Bauchi State as part of his continued advocacy for improved investment in Nigeria’s education and healthcare sectors.
The donation was made shortly after Obi paid a courtesy visit to Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, during a recent engagement in the state. The development was reported on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and has since drawn attention as part of Obi’s ongoing nationwide outreach activities.
Obi’s visit to the institution formed part of his broader engagements with stakeholders across different regions of the country, where he continues to emphasise the importance of strengthening critical public sectors, particularly education and healthcare.
During his interaction with officials and students of the college, Obi underscored the need for consistent and deliberate investment in health training institutions. He noted that the foundation of a functional healthcare system depends heavily on the quality of training provided to medical and allied health professionals.
According to him, improving Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system requires prioritising institutions responsible for producing skilled manpower. He stressed that strategic investment in human capital remains essential for sustainable national development.
The former governor explained that the ₦10 million donation was intended to support the development of infrastructure and learning facilities within the institution. He said the gesture was aimed at improving the academic environment and enhancing the quality of training available to students pursuing health-related disciplines.
Obi further encouraged students of the college to remain committed to their academic pursuits, describing them as future contributors to the country’s healthcare system and overall development. He urged them to take their studies seriously, noting that their role in society would be critical in addressing Nigeria’s healthcare challenges.
