According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Friday, June 19, 2026, the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has distanced itself from several candidate lists currently being shared across social media platforms, describing them as false and unauthorised documents that do not represent the party’s official nominations in Imo, Abia, Anambra and other states.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, the NDC urged members, supporters and the general public to ignore the circulating lists.

He stressed that the documents were not released by the party’s national leadership and should not be regarded as authentic.

According to the party, the legitimate list of its candidates has already been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the procedures outlined in the Electoral Act.

As a result, any alternative list being circulated online should be treated as misleading and unofficial.

The NDC expressed concern over the spread of the documents, alleging that certain individuals were deliberately attempting to create confusion and stir internal disagreements within the party.

It described those responsible as people acting in bad faith and lacking genuine concern for the party’s progress and unity.

The party further disclosed that investigations had commenced to identify those behind the alleged fake documents and the unauthorised dissemination of information.

It maintained that the circulation of the lists was a calculated effort to distract the organisation and generate division among members ahead of key political engagements.

Despite the controversy, the NDC reaffirmed its commitment to its political goals and organisational development.

The party assured supporters that it remains focused on strengthening its structures and presenting solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

Enekweizu also reiterated the leadership’s dedication to transparency, due process and accountability in managing party affairs.

He called on members nationwide to remain united, avoid being misled by unverified information, and continue supporting the party’s vision as it works with stakeholders across the country to advance its objectives and maintain internal cohesion.
