According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Thursday, June 18, 2026, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has directed the immediate closure of Stephrica Guest Palace Hotel in Kureken Sani, Kumbotso Local Government Area, following complaints from residents about activities allegedly taking place at the facility.
The decision was conveyed through the Kano Emirate Council, led by the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Matawalle, after the council reviewed petitions submitted by members of the local community.
According to the council, the action was taken after carefully assessing concerns raised by residents regarding the hotel’s operations.
The Emirate Council explained that the closure was intended to address public grievances and preserve peace, security, and social order within the area.
Sources within the council revealed that the directive followed an investigation into allegations brought forward by residents of Kureken Sani.
Beyond shutting down the hotel, Emir Sanusi also instructed the owner to repurpose the property into a facility that would better serve the community, specifically suggesting its conversion into either a school or a hospital.
The council stated that such a move would create lasting value for residents by improving access to education or healthcare services.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Kureken Sani Community Development Association, Malam Muhammad Sabi’u Yahaya, commended the Emirate Council for responding promptly to the community’s concerns.
He disclosed that residents had earlier petitioned the Emir, alleging suspicious movements involving minors entering and leaving the hotel premises.
Yahaya expressed appreciation for the council’s willingness to investigate the matter and act on the findings.
He noted that the community was satisfied that its concerns had been taken seriously.
The closure has sparked widespread discussion across Kureken Sani, with many residents now looking forward to seeing how the Emirate’s directive will be implemented and what future role the property will play in serving the community.
