BREAKING: Troops Eliminate Hezbollah Gunman In Close Combat North Of Litani River, IDF Reports

According to a report by The Times Of Israel on June 4, 2026, Israeli troops killed a Hezbollah operative during a firefight amid ground operations north of the Litani River in southern Lebanon, the military said, describing the incident as part of ongoing operations in the area and noting that the engagement occurred during active ground maneuvers by Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon.

According to the IDF, the Hezbollah gunman was armed with a Kalashnikov rifle. Soldiers from the Givati Brigade Reconnaissance Unit identified him and engaged in close-quarters combat before killing him in the encounter, according to the military statement. The IDF further stated that the encounter took place at close range during a rapid exchange of fire in which the unit was operating in the area.

Several hours later, Givati troops raided a Hezbollah weapons cache in the same area, uncovering dozens of weapons including firearms, anti-aircraft missiles, and other military equipment stored at the site. The military said the seizure formed part of broader efforts to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure and prevent the group from rearming in the border region.

Separately overnight, the Israeli Air Force struck two Hezbollah cells in Tyre on Lebanon’s coast and in Shaqra near Bint Jbeil, the military said, as part of continued aerial operations in southern Lebanon. The strikes were carried out in separate locations along the Lebanese coast and inland areas, according to the military, which said they targeted operational cells.

Military officials said operations against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon will continue as part of ongoing efforts to secure the border area and respond to threats from armed groups operating there ongoing campaign.
