According to report by Vanguard on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the Media Director for Anioma State creation, Mr. Tonnie Oganah, has raised concerns that the long-standing aspiration for the creation of Anioma State could be jeopardised if Senator Ned Nwoko fails to secure re-election.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Oganah warned that internal political conflicts and what he described as “divisive and unpatriotic politics” could derail efforts that have lasted over seven decades.
According to him, the renewed push for state creation from the nine local government areas in the Anioma region of Delta State is now at a critical stage and must not be disrupted.
He argued that Senator Nwoko has played a central role in advancing the state creation agenda, insisting that no other political figure from the area has invested as much time, energy, and personal resources into the cause.
He also noted that the senator has been recognised by fellow lawmakers for his legislative contributions, particularly regarding bills linked to regional development.
Oganah further claimed that delays in achieving Anioma Statehood have been largely caused by political opposition and internal divisions rather than lack of legislative effort.
He maintained that the project is intended to empower the people and improve governance at the grassroots level.
Speaking on the senator’s political standing, he stated that Nwoko had secured victory in the APC primaries, adding that the people of Anioma understand the importance of continuity in leadership.
He expressed confidence that voters would support what he described as a “servant-leader” capable of delivering development, employment opportunities, and improved living conditions across all social groups.
He also linked the creation of the proposed state to broader social benefits, arguing that job creation and youth engagement would help reduce crime in the region.
Meanwhile, Oganah appealed to President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure fairness in handling Senator Nwoko’s political situation.
He urged the party to protect loyal members and avoid allowing internal disputes or alleged betrayals to weaken the party’s standing in Anioma and beyond.
