BREAKING: Tinubu Can Lose Election, Heaven Will Not Fall; He’ll Lose If They Continue With This Attitude – Ahmed

The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could lose the 2027 general election if current political attitudes persist, stressing that electoral defeat would not destabilize the country.

Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV News on Thursday, April 30, 2026, where he discussed the state of opposition politics, possible alliances, and expectations ahead of the next general election cycle.

He emphasized that the credibility of the electoral process remains the most important factor for Nigeria’s democratic future, noting that all stakeholders must commit to ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in 2027.

According to him, opposition collaboration is possible, but it will depend on whether the political environment allows for genuine competition without interference or manipulation.

“Tinubu can lose election, heaven will not fall; he’ll lose if they continue with this attitude,” he said, stressing that democratic outcomes must be accepted regardless of who emerges victorious.

Baba-Ahmed further explained that while opposition alliances are being discussed across different political platforms, such arrangements are still in early stages and require significant groundwork before they can become effective.

He noted that Nigeria’s political landscape is complex and that building trust among opposition parties will take time, coordination, and a shared commitment to national interest over individual ambitions.

“Well, opposition alliances, those things are all possible. The point I’m making is we have a long way to go. The challenge here is, one, the elections of 2027 must be free, fair, and credible,” he said.

He also called for reforms that would strengthen the independence of electoral institutions and ensure that voters are able to freely choose their leaders without intimidation or undue influence.

Baba-Ahmed warned that failure to improve the electoral process could deepen public distrust in democratic institutions and weaken confidence in governance systems across the country.

He added that political actors must prioritize national stability over partisan interests, urging leaders to avoid actions that could undermine the credibility of future elections.

The PRP chairman also suggested that the opposition must organize early and present a clear alternative vision to the electorate if it hopes to challenge the ruling party effectively in 2027.
