In a recent interview shared by News Central, former spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Umar Sani, addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), following the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Reacting to the judgment, Sani emphasized that the party is taking structured steps to stabilize its internal affairs and restore order. According to him, “The party will hold a Board of Trustees meeting and a NEC meeting to determine the next course of action.” He explained that these meetings are critical in charting a lawful and unified path forward after the court invalidated key outcomes of the disputed convention.
Sani noted that the PDP cannot afford a leadership vacuum, stressing that its constitutional organs must act swiftly within the framework of the law. He maintained that the Board of Trustees, regarded as the conscience of the party, would provide interim guidance while awaiting broader decisions from the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The former campaign spokesman further highlighted that due process remains central to resolving the crisis, adding that all actions taken must align with both party regulations and judicial pronouncements. He reassured party members and supporters that the leadership is committed to rebuilding cohesion and ensuring stability ahead of future political engagements.
