AAC presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has dismissed claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is one of the world’s greatest political strategists, revealing that he disagreed strongly with the statement during an interview on Arise News.
Sowore made the remark while discussing his plans for national security and governance if elected president of Nigeria.
Speaking during the interview, the former presidential candidate outlined what he described as immediate and long-term measures needed to tackle insecurity across the country.
According to him, the government must adopt aggressive strategies aimed at locating and dismantling armed groups operating in different parts of Nigeria.
He argued that the country’s security crisis cannot be resolved without equipping security agencies with modern technology, improved intelligence systems, and effective leadership focused on genuine national defense rather than political interests.
Sowore criticized the current structure of the Nigerian police and military, accusing some security institutions of concentrating more on political activities and suppressing dissent instead of protecting citizens.
He specifically condemned the police for allegedly harassing Nigerians over comments and opinions expressed on social media while insecurity continues to spread across the country.
The activist further stated that if elected president, he would rely heavily on advanced surveillance technology, particularly drones, to combat terrorism and criminal activities.
According to him, drone technology would become a central part of his security architecture, enabling real-time monitoring and rapid response against insurgents and armed groups hiding in remote locations.
Sowore said he envisions operating a modern control center capable of tracking, identifying, and neutralizing threats across the country efficiently.
He also emphasized that his presidential ambition is not merely about participating in political debates or influencing national conversations, insisting that he is contesting to win and govern the country.
The AAC candidate maintained that Nigerians who genuinely desire competent, honest, and visionary leadership possess the power to bring about political change through the ballot box.
According to him, the country already has millions of registered voters capable of electing leaders with integrity if they choose to vote differently.
Sowore argued that even many of his critics acknowledge his understanding of governance and national issues.
He blamed Nigeria’s economic hardship, corruption, and governance failures on years of political compromise and alliances among the political elite.
The activist stressed that he has no intention of compromising his principles or forming opportunistic coalitions with politicians he believes contributed to the country’s current problems.
Instead, he said his focus is on building what he described as a “coalition of the oppressed” by mobilizing ordinary Nigerians, especially among the over 93 million registered voters, to support a different kind of leadership.
According to Sowore, meaningful change can only happen when citizens reject the status quo and elect leaders committed to accountability, transparency, and national development.
Reacting to comments made during the interview about President Tinubu’s political abilities, Sowore said:
“No, I’m just saying that we have enough people in the pool of voters who can vote right. And what we need to be saying, and we must keep pushing, is for them to vote right and to say, look, there’s someone who is different.”
“I was shaking my head, by the way, when you were saying that Tinubu was the best political strategist in the world.”
