According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, made comments on recent political developments involving the party and opposition realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said, “I will not begrudge Peter Obi for taking the decision he took; the ADC is not suitable for the kind of politics he wants to play.”
Abdullahi further explained that the party remains focused on building a broad coalition capable of challenging the ruling party in the next general election despite recent defections and internal disagreements.
According to him, the departure of some prominent figures, including Peter Obi, should not be interpreted as a collapse of the coalition project, but rather a normal part of political realignments in a competitive democracy.
Abdullahi also maintained that the ADC will continue to engage other opposition stakeholders in ongoing discussions aimed at forming a united front, stressing that the party’s ultimate goal is to offer Nigerians a credible alternative built on stability, inclusion, and strategic cooperation ahead of the 2027 polls.
He added that dialogue within the opposition remains essential for democratic balance and electoral competitiveness in Nigeria going forward ahead of 2027 elections cycle stability.
