According to a report by Leadership, on Saturday May 2, 2026, fresh crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a group linked to Kabiru Turaki accused another faction of misleading party members over a recent court ruling.
The group, known as “Uncompromised PDP,” is loyal to Turaki, it criticised a faction believed to be backed by Nyesom Wike, the dispute is about how to interpret the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the party’s internal crisis.
Speaking on behalf of the Turaki group, Ini Ememobong stated that the Wike-backed camp was spreading wrong information, he argued that the court ruling went beyond canceling the party’s controversial convention held in Ibadan.
Earlier, the Wike-aligned faction, through its spokesman Jungudo Mohammed, said the Supreme Court only nullified the convention, he insisted that the court did not make any decision about the suspension or expulsion of party officials.
However, Ememobong disagreed with this position, he said the court also addressed other legal issues, including cross-appeals filed by the opposing camp, according to him, those appeals were dismissed by the court, which he believes has serious implications for the case.
The disagreement involves the status of key party officials, including Samuel Anyanwu, the Turaki group claims that the earlier suspension of these officials still stands because the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Court of Appeal without making changes.
Ememobong accused the rival faction of deliberately twisting facts to confuse party members and the public, he said the truth would become clearer once the full court judgment is officially released.
He alleged that the opposing group has a history of denying court decisions that do not favour them, according to him, such actions are harmful to the unity and stability of the party.
