A technical member of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation named Majeed Dahiru has cast doubt on the All Progressives Congress’s internal democracy in the run-up to the 2027 general election. He was really worried that the big political parties wouldn’t provide their confirmed lists of primary winners.

“Tinubu is going to stand a chance of winning the next election not because of his performance in public office,” he said in a video posted on the Official YouTube channel of Channels Television on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, while analysing the post-primary fallout across various political platforms, highlighting complex political alliances.

The political expert emphasised that the ruling party is now enjoying the fruits of a nationwide consensus rather than its record of successful administration. Dahiru pointed out that the APC has created a fragile framework by absorbing numerous opposition groups, leaving it open to protest votes and internal discord.

Dahiru warned of dire long-term effects for the country, claiming that a tiny group of powerful party leaders can seize control of the democratic process if primary results are withheld. He emphasised how the risk of a civilian dictatorship increases when results are closely controlled by the top hierarchy, which in turn reduces public engagement.

Last but not least, Majeed Dahiru urged the president to make the ruling party an example to follow by swiftly complying with its own regulations. Before the next national elections, he issued a dire warning about the dangers of the present lack of openness across political boards, saying that it could irreversibly halt the country’s democratic advancement.
