Olubukola Adenugba wins fashion award

Entrepreneur and fashion advocate, Olubukola Adenugba, has been recognised for her contributions to promoting African fashion globally, winning the African Diaspora Fashion Platform of the Year award at the WestAfricaOnPoint Person of the Year Awards.

Adenugba, founder of The EllaMo Brand, received the recognition for her efforts in connecting African fashion designers with consumers across the global Diaspora through a curated fashion-tech and e-commerce platform.

The award highlights the growing influence of African fashion on the international stage and acknowledges initiatives aimed at expanding market access for designers from across the continent.

Speaking about the vision behind the platform, Adenugba said her goal was not simply to build an online fashion business but to create opportunities for African designers whose work often struggles to gain visibility in global markets.

“We look for design integrity, ethical production, and the ability to consistently deliver to a global audience,” she said, explaining the selection process for brands featured on the platform.

Beyond retail, Adenugba works closely with designers across Africa, helping to adapt traditional fabrics and silhouettes into contemporary pieces that appeal to international consumers while preserving their cultural identity.

Her efforts also extend beyond digital commerce. Through pop-up exhibitions in London and educational workshops in schools, she has promoted awareness of African textiles, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage among younger generations and international audiences

A statement shared with Sunday Scoop noted that the recognition from WestAfricaOnPoint is seen by many as an endorsement of a business model that prioritises cultural storytelling, sustainability, and community impact alongside commercial success.

As global demand for African-inspired fashion continues to grow, Adenugba said the focus remains on creating stronger pathways between African designers and international consumers
