BREAKING: We Can’t Allow Ijaws In Edo State To Continue In The Condition They Are, Go And Tell Them – Dokubo

HRM Asari Dokubo, Amayanabo of Torusarama-Piri, Elem Kalabari, has urged Ijaw leaders and stakeholders to intensify efforts toward addressing the challenges facing Ijaw communities in Edo State, saying their present condition should no longer be ignored.

Dokubo made the call during an interview on Gbaramatu Voice TV, on Saturday, 20 June, 2026, while speaking at the 2026 Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide Manifesto Presentation and Debate held in Degema, Rivers State. Addressing participants at the event, he emphasized the need for collective action to improve the fortunes of Ijaw people outside the core Niger Delta states.

The traditional ruler said the Ijaw nation has a responsibility to stand with its people wherever they reside, stressing that communities in Edo State deserve greater support and representation.

“We cannot allow the Ijaw in Edo State to continue in the condition that they are. Go and tell them we cannot continue to allow the Ijaw to continue in the condition they are,” Dokubo said.

Although he did not elaborate on the specific issues confronting the Ijaw population in Edo State, his remarks underscored the need for renewed engagement by leaders and youth organizations to address their concerns.

Dokubo encouraged participants at the manifesto presentation and debate to see leadership as a responsibility that requires commitment to the welfare of the people. He urged members of the Ijaw Youth Council to remain united and work toward promoting the interests of Ijaw communities across the country.
