The Minister of Defence, Retired. General Christopher Musa, has alleged that bandits and terrorists frequently visit local markets to purchase large quantities of food supplies and sellers often stay silent despite recognising the suspicious nature of these transactions.

He said during a media coverage on Channels TV, “Strange faces will appear very close to communities, and everybody will keep quiet. They’ll come into the market and somebody that’s making a profit of 2,000 naira daily is suddenly making 25,000 naira. People come from the forest and buy 200 loaves of bread and minerals and take it back into the forest, and nobody is talking.”

The minister urged citizens to speak up against such activities rather than remain silent out of fear.

He warned that staying silent only allows criminal elements to continue operating freely, while reporting suspicious activity allows security agencies to take action.

He stressed that national unity remains one of Nigeria’s greatest strategic assets and called on citizens to build on that unity in the fight against insecurity.
