According to a report by TheCable on Friday 12th June 2026, National leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has revealed that activist Aisha Yesufu turned down an opportunity to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives despite being encouraged by the party leadership and Peter Obi.

Speaking at a media briefing on Thursday, Dickson addressed concerns surrounding the party’s candidate selection process and ongoing debates over the allocation of political positions ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to the former Bayelsa State governor, several efforts were made to accommodate influential figures within the party, including Yesufu, who is widely known for her activism and support for Obi’s political movement.

Favor As Higher Power? (The hidden truth) Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.

Dickson disclosed that both he and Obi personally offered Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she was not interested in pursuing the position.

“Many people don’t know that Peter Obi and I offered Aisha a House of Representatives ticket,” he said; “She rejected it; A position many people are eager to secure, but she felt it wasn’t the right fit for her.”

The senator noted that the proposal was linked to broader negotiations concerning elective positions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), although he did not provide specific details on when the discussions took place.

Yesufu had earlier announced her intention to contest the FCT senatorial seat in the 2027 elections after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the NDC; She said her decision was motivated by the political and leadership experience she gained during her time in the ADC.

However, she later withdrew from the senatorial race after reports emerged that the party had allocated the FCT Senate ticket to another aspirant, Amanda Pam, who had been a member of the party before Yesufu joined.
