Presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga has responded to the statement by former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who stated that he would serve only one term if elected President of Nigeria.

Obi had said he would not remain in office beyond four years under any circumstance, explaining that a single term would help bring stability to the country.

Reacting through his X account, Onanuga questioned Obi’s credibility and argued that Nigerians should not trust the promise. He recalled Obi’s political history, claiming the former Anambra governor once pledged loyalty to APGA and promised never to leave the party.

According to Onanuga, Obi later left APGA to join the PDP and has since moved between different political platforms. He described Obi as a politician whose promises do not last and said his political actions over the years have made it difficult for people to trust his words.

The presidential aide further suggested that Obi’s latest promise of serving only one term should be viewed with caution because of his past political decisions.
