BREAKING: Aregbesola Dismisses APC Return Rumours, Reaffirms Loyalty to ADC Ahead of Osun Poll

Former Osun State Governor and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, has dismissed speculation that he is planning a return to the All Progressives Congress, insisting that he remains fully committed to the ADC, according to The Punch..

Aregbesola made the declaration on Sunday during an ADC leadership and stakeholders’ meeting held in Ilesa, Osun State, which drew party members from all 332 wards across the state.

At the gathering, he also formally presented the party’s governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun election, Dr. Najeem Salaam, to party members and supporters.

Describing claims of a possible return to the APC as “baseless and laughable,” Aregbesola said he has had no reason to look back since leaving the ruling party over three years ago.

He accused the APC of abandoning the core principles of people-centred governance, arguing that welfare and security — which he described as the primary responsibilities of government — have been neglected.

The former governor maintained that despite challenges and attempts to frustrate the ADC, the party has continued to grow steadily and record significant progress.

He urged ADC members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across their wards in preparation for future electoral contests, expressing confidence that the party would perform strongly in the 2027 elections.

Aregbesola also reiterated the position of his political group, Omoluabi Progressives, which formally exited the APC over alleged marginalisation, internal disputes, and dissatisfaction with the party’s handling of its internal affairs in Osun State.
