A murder suspect, Anthony Oghenetega, has confessed to his involvement in the killing of a teenager, identified as Thompson Adams, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, revealing how the suspects allegedly attempted to dispose of the victim’s body.
Oghenetega made the disclosure during an interview on Sahara TV, where he recounted events following the death of the teenager. His confession comes as police authorities continue investigations into the case, which has triggered public outrage and heightened concerns over safety in the area.
In his statement, the suspect described the panic that set in after they realised the victim had died. “When we discovered that he was dead, we were panicking on how to dispose the body. Then we tied him and put him in the Ghana must go bag that we both went out to purchase a few days before the boy came around,” he said. The account suggests that the suspects had made prior arrangements that were later used in handling the aftermath of the crime.
Law enforcement officials have since taken Oghenetega into custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals believed to be connected to the killing. Police sources indicate that the case is being treated as a homicide, with assurances that all those involved will face prosecution.
The killing of Thompson Adams has drawn widespread condemnation from residents and civil society groups, who are demanding swift justice for the victim. Many have also called for stronger security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
