BREAKING: “When I Was In The House, My Mom Was Ill, By The Time I Came Out, My Mom Was Close To Death” – Laycon

Winner of the Big Brother Naija Lockdown season, Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, has opened up about a deeply personal experience tied to his time on the reality show, revealing how his mother’s health deteriorated significantly while he was away.

According to a report by The Nation on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Laycon recounted how events unfolding outside the house during his participation had a profound impact on his family, particularly concerning his mother’s worsening condition.

Speaking about the difficult period, Laycon said that while he was inside the Big Brother Naija house, completely cut off from the outside world as required by the show’s format, his mother was battling an illness that grew more severe with time.

“When I was in the house, my mom was ill. By the time I came out, my mom was close to death,” he said, reflecting on the emotional weight of the experience.

He explained that due to the nature of the competition, he had no knowledge of what was happening at home and was unable to offer any form of support while his mother’s condition worsened.

According to him, her health deteriorated progressively during the weeks he spent in the house, and by the time he completed the show and returned home, the situation had reached a critical stage that required urgent and intensive medical attention.

Laycon noted that the timing of his victory in the competition played a crucial role in addressing the crisis. Emerging as the winner of the Lockdown edition came with a substantial financial reward, which he said became a major turning point for his family.

He disclosed that the prize money he received after the show was immediately channeled toward his mother’s treatment, covering expenses that would have otherwise been difficult for him to afford.

“The money came at the right time,” he said, adding that the cost of the required medical care was significant and far beyond what he could have managed without the support from the show.

The reality star further emphasized that without the financial backing from his Big Brother Naija win, it would have been extremely challenging to provide the level of care his mother needed at such a critical time.
