According to a report by The Sun on April 24, 2026, a lawmaker in the Edo State House of Assembly, Andrew Uzamere, has declared his readiness to mobilise widespread political support within his constituency for the All Progressives Congress (APC), as part of efforts to strengthen backing for President Bola Tinubu.
Uzamere, who represents Ovia North-East Constituency II, made this known during a constituency meeting where he presented a detailed account of his legislative activities and achievements. The event, held in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, attracted constituents eager to evaluate his performance and hear about his future plans.
Addressing attendees, the lawmaker outlined his commitment to ensuring that his constituency plays a key role in achieving the ambitious voting target set by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
The governor had earlier pledged to secure 2.5 million votes in support of the president, a goal Uzamere said requires deliberate and coordinated grassroots mobilisation.
He emphasised that active participation from constituents would be critical to achieving this objective, noting that political success depends on unity and a shared sense of responsibility.
According to him, the mobilisation drive would be strategic and result-oriented, aimed at producing tangible outcomes that reflect the will and commitment of the people.
Uzamere further stressed that the effort would go beyond routine political engagement, adding that his constituency is determined to exceed expectations. He expressed confidence that the area would not only meet its expected contribution but also stand out as a strong base of support for the party.
The lawmaker noted that delivering on the target would reinforce confidence in leadership at both the state and national levels, demonstrating the effectiveness of collective political action.
