BREAKING: We Have Gutted Iran Like A Fish, If We Come Home Tomorrow, I Would Consider It A Victory — Kennedy

In a recent interview on Fox News, on Thursday April 30, 2026, Senator John Kennedy (R-La.) delivered a blunt assessment of the ongoing U.S. military and economic pressure on Iran, claiming that the United States has already achieved its primary objectives and essentially won the conflict.

The Senator’s remarks come amidst a tightening naval and economic blockade that has brought Iran’s oil-dependent economy to a standstill.

Kennedy, known for his colorful analogies, painted a picture of a severely weakened adversary whose military capabilities have been dismantled.

Kennedy argued that the initial military strikes and the subsequent blockade have left Iran without a viable defense or the ability to project power.

“We have gutted Iran like a fish,” Kennedy stated. “Their air defenses are gone. If we come home tomorrow, I would consider it a victory.”

The Senator highlighted that the primary reason for the intervention neutralizing Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its massive stockpile of missiles has been largely accomplished. He noted that even if Iran attempts to restart its nuclear program using material buried deep underground, the U.S. maintains the upper hand.

“If Iran ever starts doing anything with that fissile material, which is buried God only knows how many feet below the surface of the earth, we can go in at any moment and bomb them again,” he warned.

While Kennedy expressed support for the current blockade, he characterized it as a tool for seeking further concessions rather than a necessity for victory.

“The blockade is, I hate to put it this way, sort of icing on the cake,” Kennedy said. “The president’s going for more concessions, and I think he should don’t misunderstand me but we have accomplished what we went in there for.”
