A United States lawmaker, Representative Riley M. Moore, has drawn attention to Nigeria’s security situation, particularly allegations of persistent attacks on Christian communities, while also commenting on recent developments in the United States Congress concerning foreign policy funding.

Moore made his remarks in a post shared on his official X account, where he expressed concern over what he described as the Nigerian government’s priorities in addressing insecurity. His comments were framed around ongoing debates in Washington regarding international religious persecution and global security assistance.

In his statement, the congressman criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging that significant resources were being directed toward lobbying efforts in the United States Congress rather than being fully focused on tackling violent incidents within Nigeria.

He suggested that these priorities raised questions about the government’s response to ongoing security challenges.

Moore specifically highlighted the situation of Christian communities in Nigeria, stating that many continue to face repeated violent attacks. He argued that the level of protection and intervention from authorities has not been sufficient, and he described the situation as a continuing humanitarian concern that requires urgent attention.

He linked his remarks to legislative activity in the United States, referencing the passage of an annual funding bill by the House Appropriations Committee.

According to him, the legislation supports funding for the United States Department of State and related foreign policy programs, with provisions aimed at addressing global security concerns, including issues of religious persecution.

Moore explained that the objective of the bill is to strengthen America’s capacity to respond to international crises and promote stability in regions experiencing conflict or targeted violence.

He added that the situation in Nigeria should be part of that global focus, given what he described as ongoing attacks on vulnerable populations.

The congressman further stressed that the issue should not be overlooked by the international community, insisting that violence affecting religious communities in Nigeria remains a serious and persistent challenge.
