Blessing Fubara, NDC governorship aspirant in Rivers State and cousin of Governor Sim Fubara, has said that Rivers people have borne the greatest burden of the political crisis in the state.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Fubara said leadership should focus on resolving conflicts and creating opportunities for progress rather than deepening divisions. He stressed that his priority is not to determine who is responsible for the dispute between Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, but to find solutions that will move Rivers State forward.
According to him, Rivers people are tired of persistent political tensions and want leaders to concentrate on governance and development. He likened the situation to a house whose foundation has been questioned after construction, noting that while concerns may exist, bringing down the entire structure is not the solution. Instead, he said the state needs a new path that can unite the people and provide a stronger foundation for the future.
Fubara also disclosed that he was a member of the APC and actively supported his cousin’s political journey. He said he and other supporters did everything within their capacity to help Sim Fubara succeed, putting aside personal sentiments in the process.
He maintained that Rivers residents want an end to the political disputes and are more interested in peace, stability, and meaningful development across the state.
In his words, “I was also a party member of the APC, and during the time of my brother, we did everything we had to do, support at all levels and ties to ensure that he gets there without any sentiment.”
