The distribution of Premier League prize money occurs through various channels. Each club gets a standard equal share payment, along with additional earnings from merit payments tied to their final league standing, commercial income, and fees generated by matches broadcast in the UK.
Clubs also gain from broadcasting deals, both domestic and international, that the league has negotiated.
Arsenal is projected to receive over £50 million purely from merit payments for finishing at the top of the league.
Although the Premier League’s official numbers for the 2025/26 season won’t be available until July, trends from previous seasons indicate what the champions can anticipate.
In the last season, Liverpool FC amassed £53.1 million after their league win, while Manchester City garnered £56.4 million during their title-winning run in 2023/24.
The overall income for champions rises even more when you include television and commercial earnings.
Reports indicate that Liverpool earned £174.9 million in total from the Premier League last season, while Manchester City received £175.9 million the year before that.
Facility fees are yet another significant revenue source, as clubs earn money based on how many of their matches are shown live in the UK. Liverpool led this area last season with £24.9 million from broadcasts.
