According to a report by The Times of Israel on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in March, an 18-year-old Israeli settler was fatally rammed in the West Bank. The incident was categorised as a terror act by Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency. A Palestinian man in his 50s is expected to face indictment for this crime.
On March 21, near the Palestinian settlement of Beit Imrin, north of Nablus, the accused, Dawas Hassoun, allegedly rammed his truck into an ATV that was carrying three Israelis. At the time of the occurrence, 18-year-old Yehuda Sherman was the victim.
Sherman, his older brother Daniel, and the driver of the ATV were allegedly hit by Hassoun’s truck as they were riding when the incident occurred. Sherman was fatally injured when the ATV rolled into a valley as a result of the impact. Both he and the driver allegedly suffered minor injuries.
At first, the situation was investigated as a fatal car crash. Nevertheless, the focus of the probe changed when authorities stated they were looking into the possibility that the incident had been driven by patriotic motives. The Israeli government classed the incident as a terror attack after conducting more investigations.
According to a joint statement by law enforcement agencies, Hassoun decided to attack the group after seeing three Israelis travelling through the region. The defendant “made up his mind to hurt them should they slow down” after noticing three Israelis travelling through the area, according to the statement.
The ATV was briefly trailed by Hassoun before he rammed the vehicle on purpose, according to the police. The statement characterised the incident at Beit Imrin as a premeditated assault.
The arrest of Hassoun’s son, who was located during a search of the family home, is the latest development in the ongoing investigation, according to the police. According to reports, police found a hunting rifle and a submachine gun on him. According to the authorities, he is also anticipated to face indictment in the near future.
Whatever happened while Sherman was on what was supposedly a “land patrol” is unclear. The accident happened while he and two others were on the road.
If the Samaria District Council is to be believed, his injured brother Daniel resides and oversees a settlement outpost in the northern West Bank called Shuva Yisrael Farms.
