Kenneth Okonkwo has dismissed claims that he has a personal problem with Peter Obi, saying he wants the former Labour Party presidential candidate to succeed in politics.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo said he had supported Obi’s presidential ambition within the coalition before Obi left the African Democratic Congress (ADC). According to him, he believed Obi should first contest the coalition’s presidential ticket, with members backing him if he emerged as the winner.
Okonkwo said he had also argued that if Obi failed to secure the presidential ticket, the vice-presidential position should be reserved for him. He explained that his position was influenced by his desire to see the South-East represented in the coalition’s leadership.Tap more to read
