According to a report by Punch Newspaper on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Alex Otti has stated that the Labour Party Nigeria remains open to welcoming back its embattled former National Chairman, Julius Abure, along with his supporters, as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.

Otti made the statement during the inaugural session of the party’s National Working Committee held at the Labour Party national headquarters in Abuja. The meeting brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on internal developments and the party’s organisational direction ahead of future elections.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions within party circles regarding the possible reintegration of Abure and members of the dissolved National Working Committee, including several state chairmen who were aligned with his leadership.

Addressing the issue, Otti noted that reconciliation efforts within the party are already underway and beginning to yield visible progress. He explained that sustained engagements are being carried out to resolve internal disagreements and restore unity among members.

According to him, the broader objective is to rebuild cohesion and strengthen the party’s structure by bringing together all factions that had previously been divided. He emphasized that stability and unity are critical as the party positions itself for upcoming political contests.

Otti further stated that the Labour Party is committed to an inclusive approach that allows for the return of members who may have been involved in past disputes, including those who previously held leadership positions. He stressed that reconciliation remains central to the party’s strategy moving forward.

He added that ongoing discussions and consultations are focused on achieving lasting reintegration of aggrieved members and ensuring that the party operates with a united front.

He said, “So we will keep our doors open, even for Abure to return to the party that he has worked for. The disagreement is over. We are now reconciling and reintegrating people to ensure that the party emerges stronger.”
