According to a report by The Punch on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Kenneth Okonkwo, has doubled down on his bribery allegations against Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Despite a N5 billion defamation lawsuit looming over him, Okonkwo released leaked WhatsApp conversations on Wednesday to substantiate his claims.

The political dispute escalated after Okonkwo alleged that Obi and other South-East NDC leaders extorted N10 million and N20 million from House of Representatives and senatorial aspirants during the party’s primaries.

In response, Obi’s legal team, led by Alex Ejesieme (SAN), demanded a public apology and N5 billion in damages.

Unmoved by the legal threat, Okonkwo took to his X handle to publish chat leaks with an aspirant, Obunike Ohaegbu.

According to Okonkwo, Ohaegbu confronted the party over the mandatory fees, and “the party named Peter Obi and the caucus leaders” as the brains behind the directives.

The shared conversations paint a picture of internal party friction. In the chats, Ohaegbu expressed deep disappointment, stating, “the entire NDC project, at least from my personal experience, has left me feeling deceived and profoundly disappointed.”

He questioned how a consensus list was manufactured in Abuja without any consultation or transparency in Anambra State, labeling the primary process as a “fraud.”

Defending his actions, the former actor turned politician declared that his background as a legal practitioner compels him to expose wrongdoing.

“Let me make it clear that as a citizen and a Lawyer, I have a duty to disclose every crime against the state that comes within my knowledge,” Okonkwo stated.

The former Obi ally further warned that any future legal battles would force him to reveal critical information he gathered during his time serving alongside the NDC candidate.
