According to a report by Leadership, on Friday April 10, 2026, former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, has criticized security situation in Nigeria and the role of the federal government.
He stated that the country is facing serious insecurity challenges, he claimed that people responsible for killings and kidnappings are already within Nigeria.
According to him, Nigerians are dying almost every day due to attacks by armed groups and criminals, he said the situation has become unacceptable and urgent action is needed.
Chief George argued that the primary duty of the President, as Commander-in-Chief, is to protect lives and restore safety across the country, he said this responsibility should be the top priority of the government.
He expressed concern that the focus of leadership is not fully on tackling insecurity, he said more effort should be directed toward confronting those he described as bloodthirsty maniacs who are behind violence and kidnappings.
Instead, he alleged that President Bola Tinubu is not paying enough attention to the security crisis, he claimed that attention is being diverted away from urgent national security concerns.
He accused the government of focusing on political activities rather than addressing insecurity, he suggested that too much energy is being spent on politics at a time when lives are being lost.
George further alleged that the administration is using the Independent National Electoral Commission to weaken opposition parties, he described this as a distraction from the main responsibility of protecting citizens.
He insisted that the lives of Nigerians should come first, he said no political interest should be more important than ending killings and kidnappings across the country.
”Those killing and kidnapping Nigerians all over the place are in this country. Instead of President Tinubu as the Commander-in-Chief, to deal with these bloodthirsty maniacs, he is busy using INEC to destroy opposition parties,” he said.
