BREAKING: In The Opposition, There Is Nobody Like Buhari. But In Our Government, The Foot Soldiers Of Buhari Are There With Tinubu- Hon. Adamu Aliyu

The opposition does not have a unifying political figure like former President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Hon. Adamu Aliyu, a prominent member of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aliyu made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, on Wednesday 1 April, 2026, where he discussed the state of politics today and the APC’s power under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In the opposition, there is nobody like Buhari. But in our government, the foot soldiers of Buhari are there with Tinubu.”

Aliyu addressed the seeming disparity between the opposition and the ruling party, saying, “The statement underscores his belief that the APC continues to benefit from the political structure and loyal base built during Buhari’s administration.”

Since many of Buhari’s supporters—often referred to as his “foot soldiers”—continue to actively support the current administration, Aliyu claims that Buhari’s legacy within the APC continues to be a crucial benefit. He maintained that the ruling party has an advantage over its opponents and President Tinubu’s administration has been reinforced by this continuity.

His remarks coincide with reports that opposition parties are considering ways to increase their power in preparation for upcoming elections. But according to Aliyu, their capacity to present a strong opposition has been undermined by the lack of a leader with Buhari’s broad appeal and disciplined fan base.
