BREAKING: George Dismisses Wike’s PDP Claims, Alleges Plot to Undermine Opposition

According to a report by The Sun on Monday March 30, 2026, Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Presidency, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of working together to weaken the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on the issue, George described the alleged collaboration as a calculated attempt to destabilize the opposition party and reduce its national influence. He, however, expressed confidence that such efforts would ultimately fail, warning that those behind the move are making a serious political miscalculation.

Using a biblical analogy, George likened the situation to the rivalry between Jacob and Esau, suggesting that the PDP would remain steadfast despite the ongoing political struggle.

He further claimed that the supposed campaign against the PDP involves the use of government power to intimidate both party members and the public. According to him, this influence stretches from the federal level in Abuja to states like Rivers, creating confusion within the opposition.

Despite these claims, George insisted that the PDP remains strong and united, with its structure and membership intact and capable of withstanding external pressure.

Addressing Wike directly, George rejected the minister’s claim of leading a faction within the PDP. He maintained that Wike is no longer a member of the party, having been expelled during its national convention in Ibadan last November. As a result, he argued that Wike has no authority to speak for or represent any group within the party.

George also criticized Wike for allegedly using federal influence to intimidate citizens while presenting himself as a leader within the PDP. He questioned the legitimacy of such actions, emphasizing that Wike’s expulsion remains valid and binding.

He concluded by reiterating that any attempt by Wike or external forces to interfere in the PDP’s affairs would be unsuccessful, stressing that the party is resilient and prepared to resist efforts aimed at destabilizing it ahead of the next general elections.
