Wole Oluyede, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ekiti State election, has raised concerns over the conduct of voting at his polling unit, alleging irregularities in the electoral process.
Oluyede made the remarks on Saturday, June 20, during the ongoing governorship election in the state. His comments were captured in a video shared by Punch on its official X account, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of voting and questioned the efficiency of the process being supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the PDP candidate, many voters, particularly his supporters, were unable to cast their ballots due to what he described as a slow and ineffective voting process. He claimed that despite voters arriving early at the polling unit, only a handful had been accredited and allowed to vote after more than an hour.
Favor As Higher Power? (The hidden truth) Some positions in life cannot be held or retained for long if you are not favored. Favor is higher power. You are not the only one desiring, deserving, connected, powerful or qualified. Some positions in life, opportunities, success, achievements, triumphs, selection, approvals, power and position, elevation, patronage, etc, are mainly through favor. Favor is silent, spiritual and higher power. For spiritual guidance, other solutions, call/Whatsapp Dr J.A. Faros on 07030514063. With God, all are possible.
Speaking in the video, Oluyede said the situation had created suspicion about the transparency of the exercise. He noted that after approximately one hour and thirty minutes, only five people had successfully voted at his polling unit.
“The process is useless. People have been here for about one hour thirty minutes and only five people have voted in my polling unit. That is what they do all the time. So, I am suspecting that there is something wrong with the INEC process,” he stated.
His comments come amid heightened political tension as residents of Ekiti State head to the polls to elect a new governor. As of the time of filing this report, INEC had not officially responded to the allegations raised by the PDP candidate. Election observers and stakeholders are expected to continue monitoring the process to ensure that voting is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner across the state.
