Defection: ‘We Have Moved On From Peter Obi, Kwankwaso’s Exit – ADC
The African Democratic Congress, ADC, says it has moved on from the exit of two former presidential candidates, Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the party.
Speaking on Wednesday, during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the exit of the duo as a glitch.
DAILY POST recalls that Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the ADC to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, citing internal political wranglings and court cases as reasons.
Speaking during the interview, the ADC spokesman said, “Peter Obi and Kwankwaso moving from the ADC was a glitch. We have moved on from it.
“We have stabilised and moved forward because the objective remains the same, stopping the steady deterioration of governance in the country and strengthening multi-party democracy.
“While some have moved to other parties and others remain in ADC, the broader vision of building a strong opposition coalition is still very much alive within the current political dynamics.”
Alleged IVF fraud, embryo sale: Court Adjourns Trial To June 18
A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, presided over by Justice Akeem A. Fashola, has adjourned trial of the criminal case against an Abuja based medical practitioner, Dr. John Abebe, and his hospital, Joje Abebe Hospital Limited, over alleged sale of a patient’s embryos and IVF fraud, to June 18, 2026.
Abebe, who is also a pastor with Living Faith Church, AKA, Winners Chapel, Durumi Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of fraud, unlawful disclosures of his patient’s medical records and sale of their embryos, fraud and criminal conspiracy on March 11, 2026, by the Federal Government through the Inspector General of Police.
According to the three-count charge, Abebe is accused of unlawfully releasing the confidential medical records of Mrs Mary Manga and her husband to the public without her consent — an offence said to contravene Section 29 of the National Health Act 2014.
PDP screens 45 for state, National Assembly elections
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it has screened 45 aspirants for the May 21 State and National Assembly primary elections in Cross River.
Mr Joe Bisong, the Secretary, PDP, Cross River, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Calabar on Wednesday.
Bisong said that the Fred Osim-led five-member panel screened 33 aspirants for House of Assembly positions.
He further said that he panel screened three aspirants for Senate and nine for House of Representatives.
The party secretary said that the performance of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in governance had prepared grounds for PDP to excel.
“PDP is the only political party that can guarantee Nigeria’s democracy. I can assure you that we have been tested and proven worthy of being trusted.
“We have seen the performance of APC since 2015. Nigerians will decide who will govern them after the 2027 elections,” he said.
Bisong added that the party had enough following and support to win election at various levels.
Kwara 2027: APC succession battle deepens as AbdulRazaq joins senatorial race
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara Statevm has been screened by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s primary election for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
According to a source, the governor was screened in Abuja on Monday.
The development signals a fresh permutations about the political permutations ahead of the 2027 elections in the State.
Confirming the development on Tuesday night, the governor’s Special Adviser on Political Communication, Bashir Adigun, said AbdulRazaq successfully participated in the screening exercise.
“I can confirm that he has been screened to contest for the Senate seat in Kwara Central,” he said.
He added that “And we are sure of landslide victory.”
AbdulRazaq is expected to complete his constitutionally permitted two terms as governor on May 29, 2027.
Sources within the party said the governor remains the only aspirant to have obtained the APC nomination and expression of interest forms for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat following the directive by the presidency as concerning governor f fv.owugoing to the Senate in APC.
Daily Trust reports that the governor’s decision to seek the Kwara Central senatorial seat is widely being interpreted as more than a routine transition.
