BREAKING NEWS: Nyesom Wike’s SSA Reacts As Sheikh Gumi Warns Against Castigating Bandits, Says Group Lack Ideology

Lere Olayinka, a senior special adviser on media to the former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has taken to his official X handle to make a strong comment regarding the statements made by popular Islamic scholar and erstwhile military captain, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

According to a post shared on his official X account, he pointed out that the group, unlike the militant groups in the Niger Delta region, had no ideology.Watch video here

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, it can be recalled, caused a massive stir after he stated that bandits and the Boko Haram groups should be treated same way Niger Delta militia groups were treated by the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan.

He also warned against castigating the group, as he maintained that the militia groups in the Niger Delta region were tamed through programs that reintegrated them to the society.

Lere Olayinka, widely admired for his outspokenness, pointed out that the statements from the former military captain were not only contentious, but unnecessary as the group lack ideology.
