Mosab Hassan Yousef, a political commentator and son of Hamas co-founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, has issued a warning about what he describes as a broader strategic objective behind the actions of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the region.
In a statement shared on his verified Twitter account, Yousef argued that the IRGC’s objective is not simply to pressure Israel into withdrawing from Lebanon, but rather to force what he called an Israeli surrender to Hezbollah. He claimed that Tehran’s strategy extends beyond the battlefield and is aimed at weakening the relationship between the United States and Israel.
According to Yousef, recent tensions involving the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz and increased confrontation in Lebanon should be viewed as interconnected moves within a larger geopolitical strategy. He alleged that Iran seeks to demonstrate that challenging American influence can produce strategic gains.
“The IRGC’s real goal isn’t forcing Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, it’s forcing Israel to surrender to Hezbollah,” Yousef wrote, adding that Iran’s broader aim is to “humiliate Trump” and damage the US-Israel alliance.
He further called on decision-makers in Washington and Jerusalem to recognize what he described as the “real game” being played, warning that regional developments should not be viewed as isolated incidents.
Yousef’s remarks come amid continued tensions in the Middle East, where Iran, Israel, Hezbollah, and their allies remain engaged in a complex struggle involving military, political, and diplomatic pressure. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese armed group and political organization, has long been a central player in regional conflicts involving Israel.
