According to a report by The Times Of Israel on June 12, 2026, as US President Donald Trump voiced confidence that a new agreement between the United States and Iran could soon be reached, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued efforts to frame any potential deal as a result of Israel’s long-standing campaign against Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
In a statement released by his office, Netanyahu reaffirmed his position on Iran’s nuclear program and pledged to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
“As long as I am prime minister of Israel, Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” he pledges in a statement released by his office.
Netanyahu also stressed that he and Trump share the same objective regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities, emphasizing what he described as a strong alignment between the two leaders on the issue.
“There is complete agreement between President Trump and me on this issue,” Netanyahu continues.
The Israeli leader pointed to his decades-long opposition to Iran’s nuclear activities, arguing that he has consistently worked to mobilize international resistance against Tehran’s efforts in this area. He said his involvement in the issue stretches back more than 30 years and has remained a central focus of his political and diplomatic agenda.
According to Netanyahu, Israel’s actions and advocacy have played a critical role in preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He maintained that continued pressure and vigilance have been necessary to counter what Israel views as a major security threat.
Netanyahu reiterated his belief that the campaign against Iran’s nuclear program has been essential to Israel’s security and regional stability.
“Without this struggle, Iran would have long ago obtained nuclear bombs to destroy Israel,” he continues.
