According to Divine Encounter Tv on Friday, June 12th 2026, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has recounted a personal health challenge during which medical specialists advised him to suspend traveling due to concerns about his physical condition.
Speaking during a church service, Adeboye revealed that there was a period in his life when he had overstretched himself so severely that doctors became worried about his health and recommended that he avoid travel for an extended period.
According to him, the specialists were firm in their assessment and warned that he should not undertake any journeys.
“Sometime ago, I overstretched myself so badly that some medical specialists looked at me and they said, ‘Sir, you’re not traveling anywhere for a long time to come,’” he recalled.
Adeboye said he explained to the doctors that he already had several ministry engagements and appointments that required him to travel. However, the medical team remained concerned and offered a compromise.
“They said the only condition that we will allow you to go anywhere at all is if you will agree that wherever you go, we go with you,” he said.
The doctors, according to him, justified their position by expressing concern over what could happen if his health deteriorated while ministering.
“So that if you should collapse on the altar, we will be at least at hand to do whatever is necessary,” Adeboye quoted them as saying.
The cleric acknowledged that the doctors were correct from a medical standpoint and that their concerns were genuine. Nevertheless, he said his faith in God gave him confidence that his situation would not end in defeat.
“And I knew they were correct. But there is a God in heaven that can pick you up no matter how low and get you moving again,” he declared.
Using the testimony to encourage worshippers, Adeboye said God specializes in restoring people who feel exhausted, discouraged, or weakened by life’s challenges.
“As that God, my God, lives, beginning from tonight, you will be climbing again,” he told the congregation, urging believers to trust in God’s ability to restore strength, renew hope, and grant fresh beginnings regardless of their circumstances.
