According to report by Tribune News on Saturday, June 13, 2026, Two suspects arrested over the abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons have disclosed how the operation was planned and executed in Oyo State.

One of the suspects, Segun Balogun, popularly known as Alawaye, admitted that he assisted the gang leader, Adewale Abolarinwa, alias Oloro, by taking him to locations connected to the Adelabu family.

According to him, Oloro initially expressed interest in kidnapping Adelabu’s mother but later shifted focus to the former minister’s sister and her children.

Balogun, a commercial driver, said he had known Oloro for over a decade through their transport union. He revealed that after showing Oloro the family residence, he agreed to participate in the crime due to financial difficulties. His role was to drive the vehicle used during the operation.

Another suspect, Dare Oyedele, known as Solution, confessed that he helped monitor the family’s movements.

He reportedly gathered information about the twins’ school, their daily routine, and security arrangements around their residence. Investigators said the gang conducted surveillance for several weeks before striking.

On the day of the abduction, the gang intercepted the victims’ vehicle, forced the mother and children into another car, and transported them to a hideout in the Ayegun area of Ibadan.

The victims were later rescued by security operatives following an intelligence-led operation ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Police investigations also uncovered firearms and other items linked to the suspects. Authorities disclosed that Oloro had previously faced kidnapping-related charges and was already on the radar of law enforcement agencies.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, while police work to uncover other members and possible collaborators connected to the criminal network.
