BREAKING: Israel Continuing To Strike In Iran Despite Ceasefire Announcement, Security Official Says

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Wednesday 8 April, 2026, despite talk of a ceasefire, the situation on the ground appears far from settled.

According to a security official cited by The Times of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces is still carrying out airstrikes inside Iran. The continued operations suggest that whatever agreement may have been announced hasn’t fully translated into a halt in military activity – at least not yet.

At the same time, Iran has reportedly kept up its own attacks, launching several rounds of ballistic missiles toward Israel even after the ceasefire was expected to kick in. That back-and-forth has raised fresh doubts about how firmly any truce is actually being observed.

And then there’s the wider region. While Shehbaz Sharif had indicated that the ceasefire could extend to Lebanon as well, there’s no clear sign of that happening. Israeli operations against Hezbollah appear to be ongoing, at least for now.

So, on paper, there may be a ceasefire. In reality, though, the fighting hasn’t quite paused – if anything, it seems to be continuing under a different kind of uncertainty.
