The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, is presently presiding over an expanded security committee meeting of the FCT Administration.
The meeting has in attendance the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, heads of security agencies, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, and religious leaders.
This comes as Wike placed security operatives across the FCT on alert due to the rising insecurity situation.
Wike had ordered that security be beefed up around Abuja, with improved surveillance at all borders with neighbouring states and entry points.
The minister’s directive led to the deployment of the Operation Sweep Squad, comprising a joint military task force, police, Department of State Services, and other security agencies.
These security agencies were deployed to different parts of the FCT.
