While Your Wife Battles Cancer at Home, You Shout ‘Pray for Wike’ Everywhere – Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, a media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stirred debate online after issuing a sharp criticism directed at an unnamed individual who, according to him, has been leading prayers for Wike while neglecting his own family’s struggles.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Olayinka questioned the logic behind such actions, describing them as misplaced priorities. He claimed that the individual in question has a wife battling cancer, yet spends more time urging people to pray for Wike instead of focusing on his spouse’s health and wellbeing. Olayinka went further to mock the man for being married to six wives but allegedly failing to show adequate concern for the one currently suffering from the disease.

His remarks come against the backdrop of persistent rumors about Wike’s health, with some social media users speculating that the FCT Minister was critically ill. Wike himself has already dismissed the reports, clarifying that he only took a short break to rest. He also warned those spreading false news or wishing him dead, stressing that they might end up having him sign their condolence registers instead.

Olayinka’s statement, laced with sarcasm, read: Your wife is at home suffering from cancer, yet you are on social media shouting ‘Pray for Wike’ everywhere. Who actually needs prayers you or Wike? But then, how can a man with six wives care for just one?

The post quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions. While some supported Olayinka’s bluntness, arguing that family should come first, others criticized his tone as insensitive and unnecessarily personal.
