It’s satanic spreading rumour that I’m sick ― Uzodimma
The Imo state government on Wednesday called on the members of the public to ignore the satanic message that governor Hope Uzodimma, was down with a stroke and rushed to an Indian hospital.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, made this statement to newsmen in Owerri, while reacting to a voice record spreading rumour on social media that the governor was sick and was flown to India.
The government said those behind the rumours were “descendants of Lucifer who are vainly wishing evil on the governor” adding that they would be disappointed.
According to the Imo government, “Uzodimma is not only hale and hearty but has been energetically attending to all his scheduled activities in the nation’s capital, Abuja. Those behind the satanic rumours are descendants of Lucifer who are vainly wishing evil on the governor. Uzodinma is not afflicted with any challenge that would have led to a stroke.”
APC govs’ meeting deadlocked
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have begun the search for a consensus presidential candidate, The PUNCH has learnt.
A source privy to the first meeting of the governors told our correspondent that the meeting ended in a deadlock.
“No agreement yet. Meeting has been postponed to later this week,” the source told The PUNCH on Wednesday.
Asked what transpired during the meeting, the politician said, “The governors are still divided on the matter. Many things are being considered, including capability, region and religion.”
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), had asked the Progressive Governors to search for the right successor at a meeting in Aso Rock on Tuesday.
Buhari also informed the governors that he would be seeking reciprocity ahead of the presidential primary which comes up in the next six days.
He told the governors, “The party has successfully established internal policies that promote continuity and smooth succession plans even at the state and local government levels.”
FG to partner ECOWAS on Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline
The Federal Government, on Wednesday, said it has begun consultations with the Economic Community of West African States for the commencement of works on the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Timipre Sylva, disclosed this to State House Correspondents shortly after the over three-hour FEC meeting presided over by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Pipeline, he said, would be the world’s longest offshore pipeline and second-largest pipeline globally carrying gas from Nigeria to Morocco and running through at least 11 West African countries, to Spain in Europe.
“Today, the Ministry of petroleum resources presented three memos to Council. The first memo, the Council approved for the NNPC Limited to execute a memorandum of understanding with ECOWAS for the construction of the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline.”
“This pipeline is to take gas to 15 West African countries and to Morocco and through Morocco to Spain and Europe.”
We Must Unite To End ‘Callous, Dangerous’ APC Misrule, Atiku Urges PDP
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has told the party faithful to unite and work hard for every vote to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next year’s elections.
The former Vice President spoke shortly after receiving his certificate of return on emerging as the flag bearer of the main opposition party during a ceremony at its national secretariat in Abuja, on Wednesday.
While noting that the primary contest that produced him was a family affair, Atiku affirmed that all must be carried along to put to an end what he called the callous and dangerous misrule of the APC.
He stated: “My chairman, my dear friends, while I am excited and happy for this opportunity to bear our party’s flag, let us all remember that what just happened is a contest within a family to decide how to put our best foot forward. The main contest is the one to win the Presidency of our country for our Party.”
“And it requires the entire PDP family and other supporters and sympathisers. We must pull everyone together. Nobody should be excluded. I have already visited some of those who contested against me as a way to lead in that effort to unify the party so that we can face our real opponents, defeat them in the elections and begin the process of rescuing and rebuilding this country.”
“The callous and dangerous APC misrule over the past seven years is there for everyone to see. However, we should not take their defeat for granted. We must unite and work extremely hard for every single vote in this country. There is so much to do and there is little time to waste. So, let’s get to work.”
