Hundreds Of APC Members Defect To SDP

Hundreds of the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Kwara State at the weekend dumped the ruling party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Baruten local government area of the state.

The defectors, who were led by an aggrieved House of Assembly aspirant, Prince Umar Sariki Usman, the son of the Emir of Yashikira, while giving reasons for their defection, decried the high-handedness in their former political party.

Tinubu, Osinbajo S-West APC Aspirants Meet

Hours after President Buhari met with the presidential aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, seven aspirants from the Southwest met in Abuja.

The meeting which kicked off on Saturday night continued till Sunday morning as stakeholders from the region battled for a consensus candidate.

Details of the meeting are still sketchy at the time of this report but a source told Daily Post that it would be difficult for the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the leader of the party, Bola Tinubu to step down.

Police Confirm Explosion In Ondo Catholic Church

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in the Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Post had reported that an unspecified number of persons died following an explosion that occurred at the church premises.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday during worship, triggered tension in the area as some residents were said to have moved out of the town to ensure their safety.

When contacted by Daily Post, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Odunlami Ibukun confirmed the incident.

Fayemi Is The Presidential Candidate That Can Challenge Atiku, Groups Tells APC

The Nigeria Patriotic Coalition (NPC) has asked the All Progressives Congress to pick Kayode Fayemi as its presidential candidate because he has the “experience” to lead Nigeria.

In a statement shared with TheCable on Sunday, Yemi Akinbode, the convener of the group, said the party needs to step up engagements in order to deliver a candidate that has the capacity to win next year’s election.

He thanked northern governors and leaders for accepting power rotation and supporting the idea of a southern presidential candidate for the party.

The President Buhari on Saturday in Accra said ongoing invasion of Ukraine by Russia had led to a surge in the prices of many commodities, including foodstuffs.
