Hundreds Of APC Members Decamps To SDP

Hundreds of the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Kwara State at the weekend dumped the ruling party for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Baruten local government area of the state.

The defectors, who were led by an aggrieved House of Assembly aspirant, Prince Umar Sariki Usman, the son of the Emir of Yashikira, while giving reasons for their defection, decried the high-handedness in their former political party.

He also cited alleged imposition of candidates against local zoning arrangements by the APC leadership.

Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fayemi, Bakare Other Four Southwest APC Aspirants Meet

Hours after President Muhammadu Buhari met with the presidential aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, seven aspirants from the Southwest met in Abuja.

The meeting which kicked off on Saturday night continued till Sunday morning as stakeholders from the region battled for a consensus candidate.

Details of the meeting are still sketchy at the time of this report but a source told DAILY POST that it would be difficult for the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and the leader of the party, Bola Tinubu to step down.

The seven aspirants from the region include Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Ajayi Boroffice; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Lagos cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.

Youths Stage Peace Walk Against Electoral Violence, Vote-buying

Youths in Osun State under the aegis of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), have staged a peace walk against electoral violence, and vote-buying in Osogbo.

The youths with different placards reading: “Do not shed blood in the name of election, all Nigerians are precious”; “Your future is bright, do not sell it.” among others moved from the Freedom Park, walking across the state capital to sensitize people on their right to vote.

During the exercise, Chairman of Osun NYCN, Abdulazeez Ismail, while addressing journalists noted that youths are a major part of electioneering in Nigeria adding that they should understand that the peace of the society is important.

He said it was worrisome that people are no longer interested in voting making it important to sensitize them on their franchise.

Buhari Rejoices With Kumuyi At 81

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined Christians and Christian leaders all over Nigeria and beyond to celebrate with Founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi, on his 81st birthday.

In the same way, he has sent warm greetings to renowned songwriter, producer, instrumentalist and singer, Bongos Ikwue, on his 80th birthday, joining family, friends and fans all over the world to celebrate with the iconic performer, whose voice keeps serenading for more than 40 years.

According to a statement issued by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) on Sunday, President Buhari felicitated with the General Superintendent on the auspicious occasion, extolling him for his dedication to soul winning, preaching of the gospel and counselling, which has transformed many lives, and left an indelible mark on the growth of the nation.

He noted the contributions of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, which started as a Bible study group by Pastor Kumuyi, who was then a lecturer, to the spiritual and moral development of the country, with testimonies in education, health, roads, water supply and provision of scholarships to the less privileged.

Supporters Organise Special Prayers For Tinubu

Some members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry on Saturday organised special prayers for Bola Tinubu, one of the presidential aspirants, to be victorious in the upcoming party primaries.

Ibrahim Layode, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency 1 in the Lagos House of Assembly, said the gathering was to solicit God’s help for the national leader.
