APC moves to sanction Tinubu

The chances of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu clinching the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) narrowed yesterday, following the resolution of the National Chairman of the ruling party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, that the former governor of Lagos State will face sanctions over his utterances in Ogun State.

The APC national leader and presidential aspirant was involved in an outburst in Ogun when he visited the state to campaign to the delegates for votes ahead of the presidential primary scheduled for Monday.

Although Tinubu has apologised and retracted his comments in the state, the ruling party chairman hinted that the apology was not enough, insisting that he would be facing a disciplinary action.

A cleric has said that one of the top presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will lead Nigeria to the promised land according to a revelation from God, urging that he should be given a chance in 2023 to rule the country.

In a release made available to Tribune Church News and signed by the cleric, Pastor Tunji Alamu, he appealed to members of the party and Nigerians all over the world, irrespective of tribe, religion and political party to support Tinubu so that the plan of God towards the nation can manifest.

Alamu noted that God revealed to him in a revelation that “Tinubu is the Messiah of our time and denying him would be synonymous to the awful occurrence of Chief MKO Abiola and Papa Obafemi Awolowo that we, especially the Yoruba tribe regret afterwards.”

The Police Command in Kwara has warned its officers against unethical behaviours, such as harassment and extortion of innocent residents in the state.

The commissioner of police in the state, Tuesday Assayomo, issued the warning in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, on Saturday in Ilorin.

Mr Assayomo said that the command frowns against the indiscriminate stopping of youths in both private and public transportation, and on the streets for the purpose of checking for incriminating information and eventual harassment and extortion by its officers on field duties.

The police commissioner, therefore, warned police officers in such unethical habits to desist forthwith or else severe consequences await culprits.

Bala Mohammed clinches Bauchi PDP guber ticket

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has clinched the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to seek re-election in 2023.

The development has excited his supporters who thought all hopes were lost after he lost to former Vice President Abubakar Atiku in his bid to secure the presidential ticket.

Returning Officer Murtala Damagum declared Mohammed the winner after he received 646 votes out of a total of 650 votes cast, four of which were invalid.

Mohammed contested unopposed as delegates from the 20 local government areas gave him total support at the primaries held at Zaranda Hotel yesterday.

11 northern APC governors back zoning of presidency to South

Governors of northern states the ruling All Progressives Congress Saturday night rose from an emergency meeting with the resolve to support the power shift to southern Nigeria.

The governors said in a statement that it would be fair and just to rotate power to the southern part of the country after the end of the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29, 2023.

“After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in the office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria,” the governors said in a joint statement.
