During an interview with The Punch correspondent, Dr. Moses Okwori, shared the heartbreaking story of how his 30-year-old daughter, Deborah, was allegedly stabbed to death in her Lagos apartment by her ex-boyfriend and spoke about his relentless quest for justice.
When asked if he could remember the last conversation he had with her, he said, “Yes. I still have some of our WhatsApp conversations from last year. When she called to tell me she had relocated back to Lagos, I warned her that while Lagos was a good place to work, it was also very dangerous. I advised her to be careful with boys and not to trust anyone too much with her secrets.”
Dr. Moses Okwori explained that he had always cautioned his daughter about men who might deceive her with marriage promises, pointing out that many girls fall victim to such traps, particularly from so-called “Yahoo boys” who even harm women for ritual purposes.

He said he constantly reminded her to inform him if anyone expressed intentions of marriage and emphasized that any man unwilling to meet her father was not genuine.
He recalled that on the Wednesday before she was killed, he had called to ask how she was doing, and Deborah had replied that she would soon come to see him because she missed him and wanted to visit. He told her she could call him anytime she was ready.
When asked if Deborah had introduced Lintex Ogale to him, Dr. Okwori responded that she had not. He explained that as a wise child, she usually preferred to establish a proper relationship first before informing him and saying, “Daddy, I’m coming to see you with my friend.”
