Senator Natasha Thanks Husband and Supporters After Senate Return, Sparks Reactions

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has expressed heartfelt appreciation to her husband, family, and supporters following her return to the Senate after a six-month suspension.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the lawmaker described her comeback as “a long walk to justice,” noting that it marked a renewed commitment to service built on “integrity and courage.”

Her resumption came a day earlier, officially ending her suspension which began in March 2025 after a clash with Senate leadership. The lawmaker had publicly criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio, accusing him of running the chamber like a dictator, following a disagreement over seating arrangements.

Although her suspension formally expired, her return was delayed as her office remained sealed until Tuesday, drawing further public concern.

In her statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan stressed that the victory was not hers alone but a collective one. She thanked the people of Kogi Central, the wider Kogi State, and Nigerians across the country for standing firmly with her through prayers, advocacy, and solidarity.

She also acknowledged the role of key civil society organizations, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Womanifesto, and the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP). These groups had issued strong statements and initiated legal actions challenging her suspension, arguing that it violated her rights and denied her constituents proper representation.

The senator further extended her gratitude to her family, singling out her husband and children, while also appreciating what she called the many “heroes” who became like family during her fight for justice. According to her, their support made her resilience possible, and her gratitude to them is “endless.”

Her message quickly sparked widespread reactions across social media, with many users congratulating her on her return and commending her for demonstrating courage and perseverance in the face of adversity.
