Sahel heating up, it’s time to secure Nigeria’s borders – Ex-CDS Musa to FG

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has urged the Nigerian government to ensure that the country’s borders are secured.

Musa warned that the Sahel reguon is heating up, hence the need for the Nigerian government to secure the country’s borders.

Speaking during his screening as the Minister of Defence on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, Musa said Nigeria must avoid what is happening in Mali to happen in country.

He said: “We first must love one another, understand that we are in this together and believe that the challenges we are facing is a Nigerian challenge, not only for the Armed Forces or for the security forces but it’s for every one working together.

“I want to assure you that we are going to work united as we did when I was the Chief of Defence Staff. The most important thing is for us to take the challenges confronting our dear nation, these are things that we can’t defeat, can’t win this war until we are deliberate about it. As for me, all Nigerians must put hands together to defeat the enemy in the Sahel.

“The Sahel is heating up, and you can see what they are doing to Mali. We do not want that situation to come to Nigeria.

“Our border must be secured, and our security forces must be enforced and supported.

“I want to thank Mr President for all the support given to me when I was the CDS, it made a great difference and the National Assembly stood by us all through. Despite the challenges we were able to move forward.”
