Real Madrid Eye Man Utd Star, But Ronaldo-Style Price Tag Stands in the Way

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a bold move to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, but the Premier League club have made it clear he will not come cheap. Reports in Spain suggest United have informed the Spanish giants that they would only allow Mainoo to leave for a fee close to the €94 million (£80 million) Real Madrid once paid for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

The 20-year-old academy product has drawn interest not only from Madrid but also from Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, and Napoli. Despite his growing reputation, Mainoo has become increasingly frustrated with his limited role under manager Ruben Amorim, featuring in just one of United’s opening three matches across all competitions this season. His request for a loan move during the summer window was rejected, with Amorim insisting he remains a part of the club’s long-term plans.

Mainoo’s situation has fueled speculation about his future, especially as United’s valuation of nearly €90 million is significantly above his estimated market worth. Madrid reportedly consider the asking price excessive, though the club have previously paid huge sums for midfield talent, including Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni. A move to Spain would put Mainoo in direct competition with those stars, adding further uncertainty about his potential role at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Although Chelsea have shown interest, sources claim Mainoo would prefer a switch abroad if he were to leave Old Trafford. With his contract running until 2027 and no progress on extension talks, the coming months could be decisive in shaping the England international’s future.
